THE GREAT LOOP
The great loop is a circumnavigation by water of the eastern United States using rivers, canals, intercoastal waterway, the Great Lakes, and the Gulf of Mexico. We plan to travel the Tennessee-Tombigbee Waterway to reach Mobile, cross the gulf from Carrabelle to Tarpon Springs, go around the Keys in Florida, and then up the eastern U.S. coast to the Hudson River. We will then go north on the Hudson River through Lake Champlain to Montreal. Next we will work our way west to Georgian Bay and the Great Lakes to Chicago, down the Illinois River to the Mississippi and back to our home port on Kentucky Lake. Our sailing date is Monday, October 17, 2011.
